Niche Marketing Isn't Dead

By: Michael Rasmussen

Before I dive into my topic for today, you might be hearing from me on occasion in the future. Allow me to introduce myself so you can get to know me a bit.

My name is Michael Rasmussen. I’ve worked with some of the biggest names in Internet marketing in my online career, and I’ve been selling successfully at ClickBank since 2002. For years I have worked with Mike Merz, and have a great relationship with him, so when he asked me to contribute an article for JVNotifyPro, I was honored. I hope you enjoy it.

Now on to today’s topic.

If you poke around in the ClickBank Marketplace, you’ll find dozens of my websites. One of my most popular is http://www.MiniSiteProfitsExposed.com. And I want to talk to you today about something related to that site.

Here’s a secret very few people will let you in on…niche marketing isn’t dead. In fact, it’s never been stronger. That’s why ClickBank is thriving. If you can find a niche hungry for a digital information product, you still can create a nice income stream for yourself.

Actually, the market is even better today, because most niches now have micro-niches that let you laser target your product.

What usually keeps people from taking advantage of this huge market opportunity is ignorance and fear. They simply don’t know how to get started, which makes them afraid to try.

The good news is that it’s quite easy to get started when you have tools like ClickBank to help you along. I’ll give you a few tips in this article that should put you on the right road.

First, you need a market. Not just any market, though. You need a market that’s ravenously hungry for information you can provide. This is where ClickBank is almost like having a free marketing consultant on your staff.

The ClickBank Marketplace is full of products that sell extremely well. It’s a fully searchable library of market knowledge that you don’t have to pay a penny for.

Simply use their Marketplace search form to poke around in your chosen niche. When you get the results, check out the top five on the list. Click through to their sales pages and see how they’re selling. What tactics do they use? What marketing angle is working for them? What are their price points? How much commission are they giving?

That information is like a having your own spy in your niche telling you what to target and how.

Once you know what your niche wants and how to appeal to them, you need a product.

Again, take the advice of experienced ClickBank sellers—sell what people are already buying! You don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Put your own unique twist on an existing idea, package it well, and offer it in a way that’s compelling for your niche.

It might not sound fancy, but that simple formula has been the secret to my ClickBank success for years. What really matters is the unique selling proposition (USP) of your product.

Your USP is what makes your product stand out from the crowd. Why should somebody choose your product over the others that are available? Your USP answers that question. It's part emotional and part logical, because that's how most prospects make buying decisions. If your USP is compelling, your product will sell.

Now, if you’re going to sell at ClickBank, please remember to make your product a high-quality one. They don’t want to host junk, and you definitely don’t want to develop the reputation of producing it. You don’t necessarily have to be the world’s greatest product creator, but put your heart and soul into making your product the best it can be.

Once you have your product, it’s time to sell it. If you want to offer the product through ClickBank (and I highly recommend that), you’ll need your own website. I created the free MiniSite Profits Exposed course to show people how to do that easily. But here’s the biggest thing to remember…

Your website doesn’t need to be a work of art. Make it professional. Make sure it works correctly. Definitely make it adhere to ClickBank’s Terms of Service. But by all means, get it out there!

Most ClickBank vendors (including myself) use JVNotifyPro to announce their product launches, and you can too. Get familiar using that site, it can get you an army of affiliates and maybe even some big-named gurus on board.

If your product targets your niche well, and your sales copy talks honestly and convincingly about your product, the sales will come. Your website is like the commercial for your product, so make it good, but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

All right, that’s it for this time. Keep an eye out, though. I have a lot more to share, and odds are good you’ll see articles from me in the future.
